The school was opened in September, 1972. It was built as an area school in the village of Efailwen. The village is in Carmarthenshire and stands approximately a mile and a half from the Cleddau river which is on the border between Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire.

Ysgol Beca is a primary school around 60 pupils between the ages of 3 and a half and 11 years old, who come from areas such as Llanglydwen, Hebron, Login, Glandy Cross and Llangolman. Ysgol Beca is a Welsh medium school where the majority of the curriculum is delivered in the Welsh language. English is introduced at year 3 (7 years old). The everyday language of the school is Welsh.

 


 

 

Admission Policy For Children

Full time in the September, January and April during the term they have their 4th birthday.

Foundation Phase                     Children who are  4, 5, 6 and 7 years old

Key Stage 2 (K.S.2)                     Children who are 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 years old

The school is divided into three classes.

Class 1 is the foundation phase. Years 3 and 4 ( 7, 8, and 9 year olds) are taught in class 2 and years 5 and 6 (9, 10 and 11 year olds) are taught in class 3.
